About this weed

Wintergrass, also known as Poa annua, is a small, bright green annual plant that grows in shady and damp places. It is a widespread turfgrass in temperate climates.
In South Africa, wintergrass is an allergenic plant that flowers in June in winter rainfall areas. It is related to Poa pratensis, or Kentucky blue grass.
Wintergrass can be a troublesome weed in gardens and lawns. It has a tufted or clustered growth habit and a white panicle (flower branch) inflorescence that germinates from late winter throughout spring and summer.
