About this weed

Ehrharta calycina, also known as Perennial Veldt Grass, is a native grass of southern Africa.
It is a perennial grass that can grow to be 300–1800 mm tall. It has drooping reddish-purple flowers and can grow in veld grassland and low-lying sandy areas. It is a good grazing grass in arid regions.
Veldt Grass is a major problem because it replaces native plants and creates a fire hazard. In its dry dormant state, it increases fire frequency.
