Plantago lanceolata is a widespread weed in South Africa that can be seen throughout most of the year, with its peak flowering season in December. It is also known by the common names ribwort plantain, narrowleaf plantain, ribleaf, and lamb’s tongue.
iT can grow in a variety of habitats, from dry meadows to rainforest-like areas. It does best in open, disturbed areas, such as roadsides, where other plants cannot thrive. It can grow tall, but in frequently-mowed areas it grows flat.
