About this weed

Nothoscordum inodorum, also known as Onion Weed, is a weed that can be found in gardens, along roadsides, and in disturbed areas.
It is related to onions, but has no onion smell. It has strappy, waxy leaves and can grow up to 1 meter tall. In spring and summer, it produces white or pale pink flowers with six petals. The flowers grow in small clusters at the end of long, cylindrical flower stalks that grow from the centre of the plant.
Onion Weed is difficult to remove. If you try to pull it up, the bulblets can be disturbed and create new plants.
To remove it, you can carefully dig out the weed clump with a spade or trowel, and throw the entire clump away. You can then treat the area with a non-selective herbicide or boiling water.
